"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV)
The future is a mystery you can't solve. You don't know what next month holds, let alone next year. That uncertainty can feel terrifying or it can feel freeing. The difference depends on where you place your trust.
Solomon wrote Proverbs as wisdom for navigating an unpredictable world. He had wealth, power, and knowledge beyond most people. Yet he knew human understanding had limits. The wisest thing he could tell us was to trust God completely. That wisdom still holds true today.
Think about driving through thick fog at night. Your headlights only reveal a few feet ahead. You can't see the destination or the entire road. But you can see enough to take the next step. That's how faith works when the future feels unclear.
God isn't asking you to have all the answers. He's asking you to trust the One who does. You don't need a detailed map of the next twelve months. You just need to follow Him one day at a time. His guidance is enough, even when your vision isn't.
What scares you most about the year ahead? Is it a decision you need to make or a situation you can't control? Is it a relationship that feels uncertain or finances that feel tight? Name your fear, then give it to God. He sees what you can't and He's already there.
Godseekers, stepping into the unknown takes courage. But you're not stepping alone. God goes before you, walks beside you, and works behind you. The path may be unclear, but the One leading you is faithful.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You hold the future in Your hands, and I praise You for that. I confess my fear of what I cannot see or control. Help me trust You with all my heart and lean on Your understanding, not my own. Guide my steps in the year ahead and give me courage to follow wherever You lead. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Personal Reflection
- What is one area of uncertainty in my life where I need to trust God more fully?
- How can I practice daily surrender when I can't see what's coming next?
Step of Faith
Today, I will identify one fear about the future and speak a prayer of trust over it, choosing to believe God is already there.
