Known in Your Questioning

The Lord knows all human plans; he knows that they are futile.

Psalm 94:11

Asking honest questions doesn’t push God away—it pulls Him closer. Some of us were told that having strong faith means never having doubts or fears. But when life gets confusing or painful, it’s normal to have questions. Psalm 94:11 says, “The Lord knows all human thoughts; He knows they are futile.” God already knows every thought we think—even the ones we don’t say out loud. And He still loves us.

God understands what you’re thinking before you even say a word. That might sound scary, but it’s actually comforting. The Hebrew word for “knows” means more than just knowing facts. It means deep understanding. God sees your heart. He knows when you're confused, afraid, or unsure. And instead of walking away, He stays close.

Jesus never turned people away for asking questions. Thomas had doubts, Peter had questions, and even John the Baptist asked Jesus, “Are You really the One?” Jesus didn’t get mad at them or tell them to be quiet. Instead, He listened, answered, and loved them right where they were.

Sometimes, our faith grows stronger during hard times. Asking questions doesn’t mean your faith is weak. It means your faith is genuine. God doesn’t want fake words or forced prayers. He wants your honest heart—even if it’s struggling. You don’t need to pretend with Him.

Madeleine L’Engle, Christian author of A Wrinkle in Time, said, “A faith that cannot survive honest doubt is not worth having.” This reminds us that real faith isn’t fragile. It’s okay to have hard questions. When we ask those questions, God helps us know Him better. He isn’t scared of our doubts. He welcomes them.

Jesus is the safest place to bring your questions. He won’t shame you or turn away. He might not give you every answer right away, but He gives you something better—Himself. Sometimes, that’s what we need most.

God knows everything about you—even your doubts. Psalm 94:11 tells us that God knows all human thoughts. That means He sees the things we struggle with and still loves us. Your questions don’t scare Him. He sees your heart and still invites you to come closer.

As a pastor, I've faced doubts many times. My position or calling doesn't disqualify me as a human. I've asked God so many "whys" and "why nots" and everything in between. I've wrestled with questions about how unfair life is and how people can do this and that. Sometimes, I'm in tears with no words. My heart asks one question after another. The honesty draws us to God and Him to us.

Faith doesn’t mean having every answer—it means trusting God even when we don’t understand. Absolute trust grows when we follow God, even when life feels confusing. Even a tiny amount of faith matters to Him. He sees it. He honors it.

You don’t have to hide anything from God. Bring Him your worries, your fears, your questions. He can handle them. He wants you to be honest with Him. That’s how your faith becomes real and deep.

Godseekers, your questions don’t disqualify you—they’re part of the journey. You are fully known and still fully loved. God isn’t upset with your doubts. He’s walking with you through them. Keep seeking Him. He’s not going anywhere.

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for knowing my heart and for loving me even when I have questions. Help me be honest with You. Please grow my faith, even when I don’t understand everything.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

Personal Reflection

What questions or doubts have you been afraid to bring to God?
What would it look like to talk to Him honestly about them today?

Step of Faith

Today, write down one big question or doubt you have about your faith. Don’t try to fix it—just be honest. Pray about it, and ask God to meet you in that place. Trust that He’s listening and He understands.
