Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
1 Peter 4:10
You weren’t made to blend in—you were made to stand out for God’s glory. In a world that pushes everyone to look the same, talk the same, and succeed the same, it’s easy to lose sight of how special you are. But God doesn’t make copy-paste people. He made you on purpose—with your voice, style, passions, and personality. You’re not forgotten. You’re fully known, fully loved, and fully designed by Him.
1 Peter 4:10 says, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others.” That means God has given every believer something special. Not just pastors or leaders. Not just the loud or the confident. Each of you. That includes you, right now, exactly as you are. The word “gift” in Greek is charisma, which means a grace-gift—something freely given by God for a purpose.
God doesn’t just know you—He made you for something only you can do. Your voice, your story, your way of encouraging people, your creativity, your kindness—all of that is part of how God made you. You don’t have to be like someone else to be used by God. Trying to be someone else can make you miss what God wants to do through you.
You might not feel “gifted,” but that doesn’t mean what you feel is correct. Sometimes, our gifts feel ordinary to us because they come naturally. But what’s normal to you might be life-changing to someone else. Maybe you’re the kind of person who makes others feel seen. Perhaps you’re good at solving problems or helping behind the scenes. Those things matter deeply to God.
It’s easy to forget that your uniqueness is part of God’s plan, not a mistake. Max Lucado, Christian pastor and author, said, “You weren’t an accident. You weren’t mass produced. You aren’t an assembly-line product. You were deliberately planned, specifically gifted, and lovingly positioned on the earth by the Master Craftsman.” This reminds us that our uniqueness is not random—it’s part of God’s design. He gave us our gifts, personalities, and places on purpose. When we believe that, we stop trying to be someone else and start living who God made us to be.
One of my biggest mistakes is that I let someone bury my talents. When I became a pastor, I told the Lord I would use all my abilities to spread His Word: Singing, dancing, rapping, playing instruments, and even creating videos. One time, someone whom I looked up to slowly cut down my talents. Perhaps he didn't see these things that fit the mold of a pastor. Evidently, I sang less, I danced even less, and my talents became stagnant. That was years ago. Today, I'm doing my best to "resurrect" these talents. Now, I'm unsure if I can still dance the same way. But I'll sure try for God's glory.
You don’t need a big stage to make a big difference. Some of the most powerful things God does happen in quiet moments, in small acts of love, in words spoken at just the right time. When you use your gift to serve others, you reflect God’s heart in a way no one else can. That’s the purpose. That’s beauty.
Comparison will rob you of joy and purpose every time. It’s easy to look at others and think, “They’re more talented,” or “They’re more spiritual.” But God didn’t mess up when He made you. You are not lacking. You are not behind. He gave you your gift for your calling. And He knows exactly how to use it.
Your uniqueness isn’t a mistake—it’s part of your mission. God didn’t accidentally give you the personality you have. He shaped you to fit into His story in a way no one else can. You honor the God who created you when you show up as yourself. And that frees others to do the same.
Don’t wait until you feel “ready” to use your gift. Start where you are. Trust that God sees the small things and multiplies them. When you give Him what’s in your hands, He’ll use it in ways you can’t imagine.
Godseekers, you are fully known and deeply designed. You don’t have to chase someone else’s calling. Live in yours. God gave you gifts; when you use them, you bring His light into the world in a way only you can.
Prayer
Dear God, thank You for making me unique and for the gifts You’ve placed in my life. Help me stop comparing and start trusting that You created me on purpose. Show me how to use my gifts to serve others and bring You glory.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

What gifts or abilities has God given you that you’ve been overlooking or downplaying?
How can you use your personality and strengths to serve someone this week?
Step of Faith
Today, ask God to show you how to use your gift to help someone. It could be a conversation, an act of kindness, or something creative. Then take that step and trust that God will use it—no matter how small it feels.
