From Disqualification to This Qualified

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are.

1 Corinthians 1:27-28

God doesn't make mistakes when He picks His team. He needs you to UNLEARN the lie that your struggles disqualify you. What you think makes you the wrong choice actually makes you the perfect choice. The very thing that embarrasses you might be exactly what God wants to use. He looks at your weakness and says, "That's it. That's what I'm looking for."

God has a completely different picking process than we do. He picked Moses, who couldn't speak well, to be His spokesman. He chose David, the youngest brother who was ignored by his family, to be king. He selected Peter, who constantly said the wrong thing, to lead the early church. None of these men would have made it past the first interview in our world.

Remember what happened in Corinth, where Paul wrote this letter. The city was full of successful people who measured worth by wisdom, wealth, and status. They believed only the best and brightest could make a difference. But God built His church there using ordinary fishermen, former tax collectors, and people with messy backgrounds. The powerful people scratched their heads, wondering how these "nobodies" could change so many lives.

What if your biggest weakness was actually your greatest ministry opportunity. Your struggle with worry doesn't disqualify you from helping others find peace. Your battle with doubt doesn't eliminate you from strengthening someone's faith. Your questions about God don't prevent you from walking with someone who has the same questions. Your past mistakes don't cancel your future calling. God doesn't use you despite these things. He uses you because of them.

On October 14, 1947, Chuck Yeager became the first person to break the sound barrier. What many don't know is that just two days before this historic flight, Yeager fell off a horse and broke two ribs. He was in so much pain he couldn't even close the cockpit door by himself. His friend had to help him with a broom handle. By every standard, he was disqualified to make history. Sometimes our biggest breakthroughs happen when we feel most broken.

The world looks for credentials, but God looks for authenticity. When someone meets you and sees that you don't have it all together, they realize they don't need to have it all together either. Your honesty about your struggles gives them permission to be honest about theirs. Your willingness to admit you're still learning shows them they can start learning too.

"God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called," as the saying goes, and this truth changes everything. We spend so much time trying to become worthy of God's calling that we miss the point entirely. He didn't choose you because you had your life figured out. He chose you because He wanted to figure it out with you, and then use that journey to help others.

Godseekers, stop seeing your weakness as a wall and start seeing it as a doorway. God isn't looking for perfect people to do His work. He's looking for willing people who know they need His help. When others see God working through someone who clearly couldn't do it on their own, they know exactly who gets the credit. Your weakness puts a spotlight on His strength.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I confess that I've been seeing my struggles as reasons why You can't use me. Help me understand that You chose me not because I'm strong, but because You are strong. Show me how my weaknesses can become doorways for Your power. Give me courage to stop hiding my struggles and start using them to help others find hope. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Personal Reflection

  • What weakness or struggle have you been most embarrassed about?
  • How might God want to use that exact struggle to help someone else?

Step of Faith

Today, I will search what I consider as a weakness or struggle and offer it to God. Then, give God room to move to work on my heart and spirit.
