Jesus Makes You Qualified

"The woman said, 'I know that Messiah' (called Christ) 'is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.' Then Jesus declared, 'I, the one speaking to you—I am he.'… Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony, 'He told me everything I ever did.'"

John 4:25-26, 39 (NIV)

You don't need a theology degree to be a Bridgemaker. The Samaritan woman had limited religious knowledge. She confused worship locations and theological debates. Yet Jesus chose her to bridge an entire town to salvation.

Think about her qualifications for bridgemaking ministry. She was a Samaritan, the wrong ethnicity to reach Jews. She was a woman in a culture that dismissed female testimony. She had five failed marriages and lived in shame. Yet she became the most effective Bridgemaker in her community.

By every religious standard, she was unqualified to connect others to God. No biblical training, no moral authority, no social influence. The disciples had spent months learning from Jesus. Religious leaders had studied Scripture for decades. Yet Jesus revealed His identity to this unlikely Bridgemaker first.

Her bridgemaking strategy wasn't theologically sophisticated. She didn't quote Scripture or explain complex doctrine. She simply said, "He told me everything I ever did." That authentic testimony built a bridge strong enough for her entire town to cross.

God doesn't call qualified Bridgemakers; He qualifies unlikely ones. Moses stuttered yet spoke for God. David was young yet became king. Peter was uneducated yet preached to thousands. When God calls you to be a Bridgemaker, He provides everything you need.

Godseekers, your encounter with Jesus is your Bridgemaker qualification. The woman didn't need seminary training to connect others to Christ. She needed only her genuine story of meeting Him. When Jesus transforms you, that transformation becomes the bridge others can walk across.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing unlikely Bridgemakers. I often feel unqualified to connect others to You. I don't know enough Bible verses or theology. Give me courage to be a Bridgemaker with my simple story. Help me trust that my encounter with Jesus is enough to help others meet Him too. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Personal Reflection

  1. What makes you feel unqualified to be a Bridgemaker for others?
  2. How could your personal story of meeting Jesus become a bridge for someone else?

Step of Faith

Today, I will be a Bridgemaker by sharing one thing Jesus has done for me with someone who needs hope.
