Come and See for Yourself

"'Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?' They came out of the town and made their way toward him."

John 4:29-30 (NIV)

"Come and see" changes everything. The Samaritan woman didn't say "Let me tell you" or "You must believe." She invited personal investigation. These three words became the bridge her entire town walked across to meet Jesus.

She gave them permission to explore. No pressure, no demands, no theological arguments. Just an invitation to encounter Jesus for themselves. She understood that secondhand faith rarely transforms lives—people need firsthand encounters.

Her invitation respected their intelligence and dignity. She didn't manipulate or oversell. She simply offered them the same opportunity she had received. "Come and see" trusts that Jesus is compelling enough without our embellishment.

The most effective Bridgemakers create opportunities, not arguments. Instead of debating doctrine, invite someone to church. Rather than proving God exists, share your story and say "investigate for yourself." People resist pushy evangelism but respond to genuine invitations.

Look what happened: "They made their way toward him." Her simple invitation mobilized an entire community. They didn't come because she convinced them. They came because she created curiosity and offered them a path to satisfy it.

Godseekers, your job isn't to close the deal. You're not God's salesperson; you're His Bridgemaker. Create the connection, extend the invitation, then trust Jesus to do what only He can do. When you say "come and see," you're building a bridge others can choose to cross.

Prayer

Dear Lord, help me become an inviter rather than an arguer. Teach me to create opportunities for others to encounter You personally. Give me wisdom to know when to step back and let You work. Help me trust that You are compelling enough without my attempts to convince. Make me a Bridgemaker who simply says "come and see." In Jesus' name, Amen.

Personal Reflection

  1. Who in your life needs an invitation to "come and see" rather than another spiritual discussion?
  2. What specific opportunity could you create for someone to encounter Jesus personally?

Step of Faith

Today, I will invite someone to experience Jesus with me—whether through church, prayer, or sharing my story—without pressuring them to believe.
