"Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony, 'He told me everything I ever did.'"
John 4:39 (NIV)
Many believed because of one unlikely Bridgemaker. The woman with the worst reputation became the most effective evangelist. Her simple testimony brought more people to faith than many sermons. God used the least qualified person to produce the greatest harvest.
Her testimony was remarkably simple. She didn't quote Scripture or explain theology. She didn't have a polished presentation or apologetic arguments. She just said, "He told me everything I ever did," and that was enough.
Think about the mathematics of Bridgemaking. One woman encountered Jesus at noon. By evening, many in her town believed. From one transformed life came multiple conversions. This is how God's kingdom multiplies—through ordinary people sharing extraordinary encounters.
Her past didn't disqualify her; it authenticated her message. Everyone knew her story, so when she said Jesus knew everything, they could verify it. Her broken history became the proof of Christ's supernatural knowledge. What should have silenced her actually gave her credibility.
Notice who gets the credit: they believed "in him." Not in her, not in her testimony, but in Jesus. Effective Bridgemakers point people to Christ, not themselves. She decreased so He could increase, and many found salvation through her humility.
Godseekers, never underestimate your testimony's power. You might feel your story is too messy or too simple. But the Samaritan woman's eight words changed an entire town. Your authentic encounter with Jesus might be exactly what someone needs to hear today.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for using unlikely people to build Your kingdom. I'm amazed that one woman's simple testimony led many to faith. Help me believe that my story matters too. Give me courage to share what You've done in my life, trusting You to multiply the impact. Use my testimony to help many believe. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Personal Reflection
- What part of your testimony might resonate with someone who feels unworthy of God's love?
- How does the Samaritan woman's impact encourage you about your own potential as a Bridgemaker?
Step of Faith
