Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
Psalm 103:2–5 (NIV)
Your memory is a spiritual battleground. The enemy wants you to forget God's faithfulness. He whispers that God has abandoned you or never cared. But your past is filled with proof of His presence.
King David understood the power of remembering. He wrote Psalm 103 as an act of recall. David wasn't writing about distant promises or abstract ideas. He was naming specific ways God showed up in his life.
In 1620, the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock after a brutal voyage. Half of them died that first winter from disease and starvation. Yet in fall 1621, they gathered for three days to thank God. They chose gratitude over grief, remembering God's faithfulness even in hardship.
God's benefits aren't always dramatic or obvious. Sometimes His faithfulness looks like quiet strength on a hard day. Sometimes it's a conversation that shifted your perspective. Sometimes it's peace that made no sense at all. These moments matter, and they deserve your remembrance.
Stop right now and think back over this past year. When did God show up when you needed Him most? Where did you see His hand at work in your life? What prayers did He answer, even if not how you expected? Write them down, speak them out loud, or share them.
Godseekers, end this year by remembering and celebrating God's faithfulness. Your story is proof that He never left you. His fingerprints are all over the past twelve months. Carry that truth with you into the new year.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You are faithful beyond measure, and I praise You. Thank You for the ways You showed up in my life this year. Help me remember Your goodness and carry that gratitude forward. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Personal Reflection
- What is one specific moment this year when God clearly showed up in my life?
- How can I make remembering God's faithfulness a regular practice moving forward?
Step of Faith
Today, I will write down three ways God showed His faithfulness to me this year and thank Him for each one.
