As For Me and My House

{{brizy_dc_image_alt entityId=

"But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."

Joshua 24:15b (NIV)

Joshua made his declaration personal and public. He didn't just announce what Israel should do. He stood before everyone and declared where he stood. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.

This wasn't manipulation or guilt. Joshua didn't say you'd better choose God or else. He didn't threaten or shame anyone into compliance. He simply declared his own commitment and let his leadership speak.

Leaders go first in spiritual commitment. They model what devotion looks like in real life. They show what it means to put God first in practical decisions. They demonstrate covenant faithfulness through their own choices.

But Joshua's commitment extended beyond himself. He said my household will serve the Lord. This wasn't dictatorial control over his family. It was accepting responsibility to lead them spiritually through example and intentionality.

Your household needs your spiritual leadership today. Not perfection, but direction. Not domination, but demonstration. Not religious performance, but genuine devotion that others can witness and follow.

Godseekers, someone is watching how you live out your faith. Your family sees whether God gets your best or your leftovers. Your household observes whether Scripture shapes your decisions or just decorates your shelf. Your commitment creates a culture that either honors God or ignores Him.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I accept responsibility to lead spiritually in my household. Not through force or perfection, but through faithful example. Help me create a culture where serving You is normal, not optional. Give me courage to declare my commitment publicly and wisdom to model it daily. Make my household a place where Your name is honored. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Personal Reflection

  • What would those closest to me say about my spiritual priorities based on how I actually live?
  • What is one specific way I can lead my household toward serving God this week?

Step of Faith

Today, I will have a conversation with someone in my household about serving the Lord together in 2026.
