"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)
Your faith will not always feel strong. Some days you wake up doubting everything you once believed. Tragedy strikes and you wonder if God really cares. Prayers go unanswered and you question if He's listening.
But here's the truth you need when faith feels weak. Your foundation is not your faith but Christ Himself. You stand on who He is, not on how strongly you feel about Him. When your faith wavers, Christ doesn't waver, and when your trust feels fragile, His faithfulness remains firm.
Paul wrote in Colossians 2:6 to walk in Christ the same way you received Him. You didn't receive salvation because your faith was strong or your understanding was complete. You received Christ when you were weak, confused, and desperate. That same grace holds you now when doubt creeps in and questions multiply.
Peter experienced this truth in a dramatic way. He walked on water toward Jesus, but when he saw the wind and waves, fear overwhelmed him and he began to sink. His faith wavered in that moment, but his foundation didn't. Jesus immediately reached out and caught him, proving that Peter's security was never based on the strength of his faith but on the faithfulness of Christ.
Here's what to do when your faith feels shaky. Don't pretend everything is fine or try to manufacture certainty you don't feel. Bring your honest doubts and questions to God who can handle them. Cry out like Peter did, admitting you're sinking and need help. Return to the simple truth: your foundation is Christ, not your feelings about Christ.
Godseekers, weak faith does not mean a weak foundation. Christ is the Rock, and He holds you securely even when you feel like you're barely holding on. Your doubts cannot separate you from His love, and your questions cannot undo His finished work. Stand firm on this truth: your security rests on who Christ is, not on how strong your faith feels in this moment.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You that my foundation is Christ and not the strength of my own faith. I praise You for holding me securely even when I feel like I'm barely holding on. Forgive me for the times I've confused wavering feelings with a crumbling foundation. Help me remember that You are faithful even when I feel faithless. Strengthen my trust in Your character and Your promises when doubt creeps in. Remind me that my security rests on who You are, not on how I feel. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Personal Reflection
- What doubts or questions have been making you feel like your foundation is shaking?
- How would your fear change if you truly believed your foundation is Christ, not your feelings about Him?
Step of Faith
Today, I will bring one honest doubt to God in prayer instead of pretending or trying to fix my faith on my own.
