"Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, 'Your son will live.'"
John 4:53a (NIV)
What God spoke over you has not changed. The father discovered this when his servants named the exact hour. The word Jesus spoke in the morning was still working in the afternoon. Time did not weaken it and distance did not dilute it.
The Hebrew word dabar helps explain why the timing was exact. In Hebrew, dabar means both spoken word and accomplished deed together. When God speaks, the speaking and the doing happen in the same moment. The hour matched because His word and His action were never two separate things.
Jesus himself declared the permanence of His words in Matthew 24:35. Heaven and earth will pass away, but His words will never pass away. The universe has an expiration date but what He has spoken does not. What He said over you this year is still standing next year.
Sound familiar, the way we treat His promises like they have an expiry date? We claim them in faith and then quietly let them go when time passes. We stop speaking them over ourselves and our families. We act as though God's word weakens the longer we wait.
What has God said over you that you have stopped believing? A word over your marriage, your children, your calling, or your health. The fact that you have not seen it yet does not mean it has failed. His word is still working in that room you cannot see.
Godseekers, stop treating His word like it has an expiration date. It does not expire, and it does not weaken with time. The same word He spoke over you then is still standing today. Pick it back up and carry it into the next season.
Prayer
Dear Lord, Your word is not like anything else in this world. Everything fades, weakens, and expires, but You declared that Your words never will. Forgive us for treating Your promises like they have a shelf life. We receive today what You have spoken over our lives, our families, and our futures. We declare that what You said still stands. Strengthen our faith to carry it forward without letting go. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Personal Reflection
- What specific promise or word from God have you quietly set aside because too much time has passed without visible confirmation, and what would it mean to pick it back up today?
- What words has God spoken over your family line or your generation that the people around you have stopped expecting to see fulfilled?
Step of Faith
Today, call or message one person in your life and remind them of a specific word or promise God has spoken over them that you believe is still standing. Speak it over them with confidence, not as a comfort but as a declaration.
