"Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil."
Ephesians 5:15-16 (NIV)
You say God is your priority. You say your faith matters most to you. You say you want to live for things above. But here is the truth that most people do not want to hear. Your calendar does not lie. Your schedule shows what you really care about. You always make time for what actually matters to you.
Look at your last week honestly. How much time did you spend scrolling social media? How much time did you spend watching shows? How much time did you spend worrying about work? Now ask yourself this. How much time did you spend with God? How much time did you spend in prayer? How much time did you invest in growing spiritually? Your time tells the truth about your priorities.
This is where reframing your priorities gets real and practical. Colossians 3:1 says set your hearts on things above. But if your heart is truly set on something, your time will follow. You cannot say Jesus is your treasure when you give Him your leftover minutes. You cannot say God's kingdom is your priority when you never actually pursue it. Your calendar reveals whether you have reframed your life or just reframed your words.
Paul warns us in Ephesians 5:15 to be very careful how we live. He says make the most of every opportunity. That means your time is valuable and limited. You do not get today back. You will not get this week back. Every hour you spend is gone forever. So the question is simple. Are you spending your time on things that matter for eternity? Or are you wasting it on things that will not matter at all?
Most people are too busy for the wrong things. They have time to scroll but not to pray. They have time to binge shows but not to read Scripture. They have time to worry but not to worship. They say they are too busy for God. But the truth is they are busy with earthly things because their minds are set on earthly things. If you reframe your mind like Colossians 3:2 says, your calendar will reframe too.
Godseekers, it is time to let your schedule match your words. Stop saying God is your priority when your time proves He is not. Start living like someone whose heart is set on things above. That might mean waking up earlier to spend time with God. That might mean turning off the TV to pray. That might mean saying no to good things so you can say yes to God things. When you reframe your priorities, your calendar changes. And when your calendar changes, your whole life changes.
Prayer
Dear Lord, my calendar shows the truth about my priorities. Forgive me for giving You my leftover time instead of my best time. Forgive me for being busy with earthly things while ignoring things above. Help me be wise with the time You have given me. Teach me to make the most of every opportunity. Give me the courage to change my schedule to match my faith. Help me reframe my priorities so my time reflects what I say I believe. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Personal Reflection
- If someone looked at your calendar from last week, what would they say is your real priority?
- What one thing do you need to remove from your schedule to make room for pursuing things above?
Step of Faith
Today, I will look at my schedule for this week and identify one specific time slot I will protect for God, and I will not let anything else take that time.
