The Spirit Was Enough for the Weak

Sermon Series: 2026, Devotionals, Tell

"Then they gathered around him and asked him, 'Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?'"

Acts 1:6 (NIV)

Some of you are still waiting to feel ready. You have watched this whole week unfold and still feel unfinished. Maybe you hoped to feel different by the end of it. That question is older than you think, and it started on a mountain.

The disciples asked Jesus a version of your same question. In Acts 1:6, they wanted to know if the time had come. Jesus did not answer their timing question the way they hoped. Instead of an answer, He gave them power to carry the wait.

Paul discovered that same power inside his own weakness. In 2 Corinthians 12:10, he said he was strong when weak. That was not poetic language but something he had actually lived. The Holy Spirit was enough for him before he ever felt strong.

We keep treating readiness like a finish line to reach. We think the wait will end once we finally feel capable. But the Holy Spirit was never waiting on our readiness to arrive. He was already enough before we ever felt strong at all.

You do not need to wait one more week to begin. The same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the grave lives inside you now. Whatever weakness you have been hiding behind is not disqualifying you. Let this be the day you stop waiting to feel ready.

Godseekers, stop waiting for a readiness that was never coming. The Holy Spirit has already been enough for you this entire week. Whatever excuse you carry into tomorrow, He is already greater than it. Go tell someone today, not because you feel ready, but because you are sent.

Prayer

Living God, You are the same Holy Spirit who filled ordinary people with power. Thank You for being enough before we ever felt ready or strong. Forgive us for waiting on a feeling that was never the requirement. Meet every person in this church who still feels unfinished today. We trust You to be sufficient for whatever we carry forward. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Personal Reflection

  1. What feeling have you been waiting for before you consider yourself ready?
  2. Do you know anyone in your circle who needs encouragement to step into obedience because the Holy Spirit is in them now?

Step of Faith

Today, decide to embrace the Holy Spirit's power and step into obedience. Pray about one person you could tell about Jesus this week. Ask God to help you discern the right moment to speak. Then trust Him with how they respond.
