"Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus."

Maybe you already know what it costs to speak up. Maybe it cost you a friendship, a promotion, or even your job. The council's command to Peter and John was total. Total commands like that always carry a real price.
Some of us have already paid part of that price. We said something true about Jesus in a quiet room. The room grew cold, and nobody warned us it would. Obedience can feel lonely in the exact moment it costs.
In 1 Peter 4:14, Peter writes to scattered believers facing real hostility. He never promises the insults directed at them will stop. He tells them plainly that insult for Christ carries hidden glory. The Spirit of God rests on the ones dismissed.
That promise does not remove the cost, but it reframes it entirely. Glory and insult can apparently exist in the same breath. What looks like loss from the outside carries weight unseen. Peter wants suffering believers to know this clearly.
We calculate the visible price of an open mouth constantly. We rarely calculate the quieter price of total silence instead. One cost is loud and immediate and easy to notice. The other cost is slow, and far easier to miss.
Godseekers, you were never promised comfort without any price attached. But you were promised His presence rests on you. Let that promise be enough to open your mouth again. The cost is real, and so is the One near you.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You are good even when speaking Your name costs us something real. Thank You for staying close in moments we felt most exposed. Forgive us for the times we chose comfort over plain obedience. Rest Your Spirit on us in whatever conversation waits this week. We do not need the cost removed, only Your presence within it. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today, name out loud one conversation you have been avoiding because of its cost. Ask God for one specific moment this week to have it. Do not wait for fear to disappear before you speak up. Let His presence be enough to carry that cost with you.
